“CRAP DAYS” (2010, duration 15:23) presents a diversity of fans/singers singing short chants representing teams in the British Football Premier League while the video colouring is based on the team’s colours. The chants are chosen from on-line databases that form the vast and varied repertoire of the British football fan lyrics, to reflect diversity in style, content, context and history. This video work respects this history and looks at musical intervention and adaptation in the football chants with inventive lyrics. It also demonstrates how collective singing empowers fans from the sidelines as well as disrupts the social norms with boisterous song and content.
